So just wondering, what's your favorite romance novel and why? I like Nora Roberts books and Danielle Steel. I also like Janette Oke as well.

I couldn't possibly pick just one novel or even just one favorite romance author. I like so many including Nora Roberts, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Crusie...and way too many others to try to list. I also like authors who write romantic suspense which is different than just plain romance.

Not my usual genre, but I liked Nora Roberts' "Blue Dahlia", because most of the characters were likable, especially Roz, the owner of the mansion, & her servant David. I sort of didn't like the niece or cousin character, the pregnant one, for not telling her child's father he had a baby on the way, and found it unrealistic someone was willing to date her as an expectant mother, much less one who was intentionally excluding the father from her child's life, but overall I liked the story & might be willing to read more of this author.

I to, like to many to list here but the one that stands out the most is The Knight in Shining Armor, It is a time travel romance where the female falls in love with a knight from the 14th century. If only that kind of romance really was true.

And don't forget Diana Gavaldon. Some rather intense themes, but that's what keeps her books from being just romantic fluff.

Squidward, there are two books after Blue Dahlia that follow the other main characters in that story. The one that comes after Blue Dahlia is Black Rose, and the third one in the trilogy is Red Lily.

I'm pretty much like Becky, i couldn't pick a possible favourite romance novel or romance author. however, i must say i can't stand Danielle Steel's romance. for me, the way she write about romance is rather perthatic.

I know what you mean about Danielle Steel. Her books aren't usually much of an escape. they're too much like reality whether we like to admit it or not.

daniel steel is too formulaic. tall beautiful blond babe witha good heart has the husband from hell who she dumps. she meets the lawyer/addman/actor/doctor of her dreams and forgets all about her contraception so she gets pregnant. they have alots of drama but he tultimately marries her. have i got it about right?

my favorite romance novelist is kristin hanna. her book the magic hour, which is about a child raised in the wild and the two sisters who help her is an amazing book. one of my all time favorites. alsobetween sisters is great by her too. totally amazing books. i also like louanne rice's blue moon and cloud nine. both excellent romances.

I absolutely cannot stand Danielle Steel. I think a lot of her books are wooden and cliche'. having said that, though some Nora Roberts romances are real treasures, she tends to llean towards the cliche' side too. I honestly saw a book in which a character was named Catch Catcherton. really?

Jude Deveraux is one of my favorites; she wrote "A Knight in Shining Armor". In that same vain, "Rememberence" by her is also good. If anyone can reccomend some other good time travel romances, I'd love that. The Time Traveler's Wife is also a great book for that, though it's not exactly what I'd call romantic.

A thousand Tomorrows by Karen Kingsbury is a very sad romance novel, but it stands out in my mind as one of the good ones I've read.

I like some of ayn Rand romances, I am not big on the idea that each think they are owning the other that's a little strange but the idea of intimate love that one values the other is good. It is also good that one values coincide with the others and it isn't just shallow romance, besides they don't do this shallow thing where they show there love everywhere. I am happy with it how it is so private and intimate. Otherwise I like older books the classic romance novels such as Jane Austin who wrote many the darcy elizabeth plot can never never get old I looooove Darcy. and I like shakespeares romance when everyone isn't dying. I love benedick and beatrice's thing for each other and hero's and I think it was claudio right? haha! I forgot if it was him or the prince I think it was claudio. and hmmm.... there's others but can't think of them right now.

My wife is really into the Outlander series by Dianna Gabelton (Sorry I'm not certain of the spelling). It's very well-written, well-researched historical fiction centering on a woman who goes back in time to ancient Scotland. Everyone raves about it. SO if you're into romance at all and you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.
